The idea of vacations themselves is enough to make most people excited, just thinking about them! Ideal weather, not stress, limitless food, and close friends make getaways all the more enjoyable. There are lots of tiny details that are involved with finding the perfect vacation. Choosing the wrong location or time of year has the potential to totally ruin a fabulous vacation.
Plan Ahead: Start planning months before your vacation. Half of the fun of a vacation is getting to plan all of the fun details, and look forward to it! Research locations and travel deals. Sites like LivingSocial and Groupon have their own version of travel deals, where they offer extremely low prices on phenomenal vacation packages. Talk to friends who have visited the location you are planning on going to. Research forums and read comments on websites in that are. Testimonials are a fantastic way to get a peek inside what the place is really like.
Check the Calendar: Obviously, summer is the most popular month to vacation. Depending on whether you have children or not, you can choose to forsake the children clad beaches and hold out for peace and quiet. Especially if you are searching for a cheap, romantic getaway, consider visiting the location during the “school year”. Not only will kids be in school, but most adults will be working, making for minimal crowds! Before you mark the calendar for November, do a little research. If you are going to a high tourist summer hot spot, some of the popular stores and attractions might be seasonal.
Pack in Layers: To make the whole packing process easier on yourself, try to pack light separates that are easy to layer. Layers will allow you to adjust your clothes to how cold or warm you are, without having to pack a full winter and summer wardrobe.
Leave the Stress: Before you head out, make a promise with your significant other to leave all stresses at home! Whether that means forsaking that blackberry, forgoing the social medias, and unplugging the laptop might be more relaxing than you’ve imagined! Being able to fully relax means coming home totally recharged and energetic!
Make a Packing List: Before you leave, jot down a list of everything you need to pack. Almost everyone has forgotten a toothbrush, sweater, or alarm clock at one point or another. Making a list will ensure worry-free packing, and peace of mind once you’ve arrived!
Capture it All: Bring a small camera along for all of your adventures. Many people make the mistake of totally forsaking the camera during vacation. Use your pictures to create a flipbook of your special vacation, then relive it by showing all of your family and friends. Remind each other of your fun times each time you flip through the booklet!
